Melissa DeMatteis
Melissa DeMatteis brings over 30 years of experience working with children in education, athletics, and community leadership. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Clarion University and a Master’s degree in Social Work, specializing in children and youth, from the University of Pittsburgh. Her passion for child development and innovative learning has shaped the foundation of FOTC Brain Gym.
Melissa has dedicated her career to creating child-centered learning environments, believing that children learn best through doing. Her background includes serving as President and Vice President of the Moniteau High School School Board, coaching and advising youth sports, including softball and cheerleading, and currently leading FOTC Cheerleading in its 7th season. Inspired by Montessori principles, she champions an educational approach that adapts to the needs of each child, ensuring they can Think, Move, and Play their way to success.
Her leadership, hands-on experience, and commitment to active learning make FOTC Brain Gym a place where children thrive, explore, and grow with confidence.
Algy VanDunk
Algy VanDunk is a passionate educator and coach with a Bachelor’s degree in K-12 Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock University. With a non-traditional educational background, Algy has lived with host families across the U.S., gaining unique perspectives on learning and adaptability.
A CPR-certified instructor, Algy brings both knowledge and hands-on experience to the classroom. Their dedication to youth development extends beyond teaching—Algy has been coaching cheerleading at FOTC for three years and was a world champion cheerleader in 2019, as well as a college cheerleader at SRU. In addition to cheer, Algy participated in bowling, further showcasing a commitment to movement and teamwork.
During college, Algy gained valuable classroom experience by student teaching at HillView Elementary and substituting at Moniteau School District. Now at FOTC Brain Gym, Algy blends her love of physical activity, education, and mentorship to inspire young learners to Think, Move, and Play every day!
Sophia Wogan
Sophia Wogan is a dedicated educator and coach with a passion for helping children succeed. Currently a senior at Slippery Rock University, she is set to graduate in May 2026 with a Bachelor’s degree in Middle Level Education – Mathematics. Her love for education and commitment to fostering a growth mindset ensure that every child she works with feels supported, encouraged, and capable of achieving their goals.
With 16 years of cheerleading experience and a year of coaching at Full Out Tumble and Cheer, Sophia understands the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and confidence—both in sports and academics. She has also participated in volleyball and lacrosse, bringing a well-rounded athletic background to her coaching and teaching approach.
At FOTC Brain Gym, Sophia is excited to inspire young learners, helping them embrace challenges, develop resilience, and unlock their full potential through Think, Move, and Play!
